Winning Brands Spearheads Movement away from Toxic Cleaners In $10 Billion Dry Cleaning  Industry

June 7, 2006 Barrie, Ontario, Canada - Winning Brands Corporation (PINK SHEETS: WNBD) announced yesterday  that its Solvent Free Solutions partnership with Miele  USA has completed installation of St. Louis Missouri’s first Miele Professional Wet Cleaning System – a new generation of professional garment care to end the Dry Cleaning  industry’s reliance on toxic solvent Perchloroethylene (PERC).

Up to 50,000 Dry Cleaners throughout North America use the toxic chemical  PERC in the “dry” cleaning process.  The United States  Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published findings that indicate that PERC is a carcinogen with the State of California enacting a law to phase out its use.

The National Institute of Environmental Health Services (NIEHS) www.niehs.nih.gov/external/faq/dryclean.htm,  says that PERC accounts for 80-85% of all Dry Cleaning chemicals used.  “The resulting $500 Million dollars in estimated alternative annual cleaning agent use by professional Wet Cleaners would then be directed to environmentally sustainable production. “Our Company is positioned to be a leader in the field in assisting Dry Cleaners in making the switch.” said Eric Lehner,  CEO of Winning Brands Corporation, manufacturer of the alternative cleaning agents.

NIEHS states that  PERC enters the body when breathed in with contaminated air or when consumed with contaminated food or water. Once in the body, PERC can remain stored in fat tissue. Short term exposure to PERC can cause adverse health effects on the nervous system that range from dizziness, fatigue, headaches, and sweating to lack of co-ordination  and unconsciousness.
